What did you do on July 1st?

Well here in Osoyoos, BC we celebrate the CHERRY with a Cherry Fiesta. This involves a pancake breakfast, a parade, vendors in Gyro Park, and ending with a Fireworks Show.

The parade runs down main street and is always lined with residents and summer visitors come to enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

There are certain traditions that are followed, such as water being spayed at the crowd by some floats, beautiful queens and princesses riding in convertibles, clowns, and horses. And after the horses comes the clean-up man with a wheel barrow and shovel. There is a loud cheer as he does his do-do duties.

The beach at Gyro Park is off limits while the multiple trailers are make ready for a flawless pyrotechnics show in the late evening.

So on with the show.

Once again it’s time to find a road less traveled.
