The Photo Club has a “Monthly Photo Challenge” at the first meeting of each month. We are given a word drawn from a hat and then have to create a photo that holds to the topic while still keeping composition and technical quality at its highest level. The photos entered by members are then shown without reveling the creators name. Everyone in attendance vote for their chose.

My pick for the topic “Recipe” was to bake Cinnabons. To that end I had to bake some.

Once baked, it was a matter of laying out the design for the final image.

Then came the lighting. I went with an on camera flash aimed at the white ceiling and a slaved speedlite off to the left.

I took a few shots before adding the icing to the subjects.

With the icing in place, more set arrangement ….

With and without objects.

Tightening the image and so on …

The final decision made, I entered this image below. It didn’t win the MPC. Someone had said they couldn’t see the recipe.

So in hind sight I should have gone with my old trusted 1968 edition of “Guide to Cooking” that is held together by the love of cooking and a Ziplock bag.
