The lake is still free of ice in places. The family of swans, two adults and four yearlings were feeding in water deeper than a duck can reach while doing the tails up maneuver. The Swans with longer necks have the undisturbed bottom to feed on. Although the Swans still paddle their feet to bring good stuff to the surface. That when the ducks are happy, finding feed that was not there prior to the Swans visit.

While watching this action on the surface the Swans spent a good amount of time with their heads under water.

More often than not only one head can be seen at a time. There were a few ducks hiding and waiting.
