War Birds In Penticton

We were on the highway to Penticton when there overhead was a large bird, no not a bird it was a plane. It was a World War II Flying Fortress – a B-17. Now you don’t see one of those everyday.

After completing our errands in town we headed to the airport where we found many on-lookers peering though a chain link fence at two warbirds.

Rides were being offered on the two planes as well as ground tours. The rides needed to be booked on line.

From outside the fence we watch the preparations being made for the next flights that would last 20 to 30 minutes.

This B-17 had gun turret above the cockpit, at the nose, the sides, the tail, and the belly. This made it a real “Flying Fortress”.

B-25 – “Maid in the Shade”

Flight Crew, possibly the pilot, was taking a photo on their camera of two passengers prior to their ride.

Another less traveled road to add to our files.
